Planner notes
Why your planner dividers should fit the way you plan
When we put a planner together, we make so many small decisions.
Which size works for me? Which cover do I want? Which color? Which material? Do I need pockets? Rings or discs? Which planner inserts actually work for my life and which ones don’t?
Many of us build our planners little by little over time. Maybe the monthly pages come from one brand, the weekly pages from another and for certain areas we use completely different inserts.
And that’s exactly why I think the dividers should fit too.
Not just visually, but in the way they’re labeled as well.
Your sections
Your dividers can follow the way you already use your planner
If you keep your recipes, ideas for the week or meal planning in one place, for example, your tab can simply say MEALS. If NOTES makes more sense to you than any predefined category, then that’s what it should say.
A planner doesn’t have to follow the logic of a ready made divider set. Your dividers can follow the way you already use your planner.
At the same time, they can bring together something that may otherwise consist of lots of different pieces. Different inserts, different brands and different sections can feel much more connected with one consistent set of dividers.
A planner doesn’t have to follow the logic of a ready made divider set. Your dividers can follow the way you already use your planner.
And for me, the way they look matters too.
After all, we don’t choose a planner simply because paper fits inside it. We choose a certain color, material, shape and all those little details because we want to enjoy picking it up and using it.
So why should the dividers suddenly not matter?
That’s why I like clean lettering, high quality materials and a simple design that fits naturally into the planner instead of taking over.
Language
Language can make a difference too
Language can make a difference too.
When I first started putting my own planner together, using English words for my sections felt strange to me. I wanted German labels because they felt more natural. Today, it’s almost the other way around.
And that’s exactly the point. There isn’t one version that feels right for everyone.
Small details
Small details can change how a planner feels
These details may seem small. But they can make a difference in whether a planner feels like your own system or like a system someone else decided for you.
And if we already spend so much time figuring out which pages we need and how we want to organize our everyday lives, then the dividers can be part of that too.

So the planner looks beautiful.
But more importantly, so you naturally know where to look and can find what you need more quickly.
